Who have you tried.

All I can do is quote MN(MsNola) "Are you serious" I've never even heard of some of these. You shop more than anyone (almost anyone I know). I say that because you have everything makeup MAC, Stila, Lorac, Chanel, Dior, YLS, Forever Cosmetics, Lancome, BE - cheater cause you have all their new stuff kits and all! Laura Mercier, BB, and everything under the rooves of Phipps Plaza, Lexox Square, Sephora, Nordies, Sacks, and Macy's Manhattan. Throw a yard sale and get rid of everything 3 months old. I'm serious.

Right right:)

I donate everything either to the shelter that I volunteer at or to the other one that you told me about. No more pack ratting babe. In fact I was just there and talked to your pastor's wife (she's so beautiful!) last week.

[this is good]

What a LIST! LOL. So is EG Minerals your top favorite at the moment? ;) A couple of weeks ago I received generous samples of no-name Cover Me, no-name Youthful Glow & no-name Glow from Vely (Cavano) which I immediately fell in love with (especially the Cover Me!) and now I'm waiting for my full size foundations order to arrive (but already plotting another order!). What are your other favorite products from EG Minerals, Theresa? I'm eyeing the Transparent Cream Base, have you tried it?

Dang Girl! LMAO! you really have tried a LOT! 60+ companies! LOL Where do you get the patience. *moosie eyes bulging here* Have you tried foundation in all of those? Or, *gulps* foundation AND face/eye minerals in those too??

I guess having sensitive skin, ona more positive note (to pocket book mainly), I am what you'd call on the bonus side of somewhat lucky...helps me avoid certain brands because of ingredients I'm reactive to. lol

Okay, I ended up putting a post together and also finally responded to your pm. =)

Which companies out of all of those would you avoid at all costs, due to sensitities (if any)?

Hi Simplicity! Yes. The cream eye shadow base is excellent. I love the nude. I wouldn't have tried it but saw a rave review of it on another site. The makeup artist was Spanish and loved how it still showed nude on darker skin so I went for it and it's great. You really can't see it but it really makes the eye shadows pop big time!

My faves are the Cover Me foundation. I love how even in photos now I don't get a white cast like usual with mmu foundation. I also love the lippies, blush and something I thought I'd never really wear but love now... the bronzers. The blushes and eye shadows have me totally at their mercy. I'm also trying the AHA pads and anti acne kit. So far I'll say that the night treatment is excellent out of all of those. It really clears/dries up eruptions overnight or within a day or two. So that would be my favorite and the others I can't comment on because I haven't used them long enough yet.

I always go for foundations if they're even kind of closely within my range. A lot of companies surprisingly don't have colors or didn't a few years ago within my range. But even if that's the case I'll always get eye shadows. If a company doesn't have foundations for darker skin tones then usually there are no blushes, bronzers, or lippies for them either:( so.... Actually I would say that Monave and Lumiere did the best all around job of providing natural alternatives for women of color in realistic shades - though their options are limited - they still were a jumping leap ahead of everyone else including BE (in my opinion based on my experience). This is with the exclusion, of course, of ADA and Milan, who I wasn't familiar with at the time of sampling and buying full size with Monave and Lumiere. They of course specialize in women of color and Milan expands beyond women of color to encompass everyone.

I now totally avoid anything with organic ingredients in the cosmetics! That is based on a horrible experience that I had roughly 3 years ago. Not only did it happen to me but it happened to a friend who visited the boards at that time. In fact she introduced me to the mineral makeup boards. At that time a company that people still mention quite a often was starting up and everyone was grabbing up their samples. Their foundation was good but... the radiant glow had cornstarch in it with no preservative! First my friend broke out with a horrible skin fungus. She had only used their product and fortunately it happened immediately. Well she went to the Dr. and he RX'd her. No clear up though her gorgeous face was so gross at the time she couldn't wear makeup. So she got shots and then more RX. Then I broke out with a fungus only where I put the radiant glow. She had put it all over her face. Me being much darker than her only put it on the cheekbones. The package had just come in the mail and in my eager beaver zeal I grabbed it up and put it on immediately. Well I broke out - different package different week same fungus! Hello! We contacted the owner but didn't post the info on the boards because... well at the time I wasn't on the boards yet but I know that she didn't because later she insisted that I never mention the companies name. So time passes and months later another woman posts on a completely different forum (by now I'm on the boards) how she broke out from a fungus from foundation from a different company with organic ingredients in it. Big mess over there with that. Anyway that company now uses presevatives of a natural nature but.... The genuine effectiveness of vitamin E , lavender, and other EO's is debateable at best and totally questionable with killing and or preventing many strains of bacteria, fungus, and other germs so.... I stay away from organic materials in mineral makeup because I contracted a fungus from contaminated makeup purchased brand new and used immediately upon receipt! Someone I know experienced the same traumatic event and this was a week or so between our purchases of the same product from the same company. Neither of us had allergies to that ingredient in question and it is likely that the organic ingredient was exposed to the contaminant prior to purchase from the mmu, but had you seen the gross disgusting eruptions on my cheeks and all over my BF's face - you'd not risk it ever again.

Since then I've expanded my no can do policy to include not only corn starch but also oat, rice, silk, pearl whatever. I do use skin care items with those ingredients but only if they have legitimate preservative.

I can have a lot of troubles with my skin tone, trying to find a foundie that isn't too warm, yellow, brown beige, grey, pink, orange, peach, etc..., etc... So, I can only imagine how hard it could be with a richer complexion.

Eeek! I hear ya on the fungus. Gross! ...and how scary too! Luckily, I haven't had that happen. I stay away from foundies and mmu products with cornstarch in them...only 2 finishing powders I thought were *nice* for giving that photo finish (to my surprise) for having the cornstarch in them...they were Mineral Essence and Raw Natural Beauty...both use antioxidants in their makeup, so not sure if that's a help keeping the products better or not. With the fungus though, I'm wondering if it was possibly rice starch too?? --you know, that was a huge thing with Chinese manufacturing with that melamine...I'm sure it still goes on. I've been trying to stay away from more organics in my mmu too...just a few companies that I still enjoy their organic formulas & never had problems.

I'm on your blog now reading! Please let me go back:) (laughing)

Moosie, what color foundation do you wear?

LOL!!!

This is funny on my *matches*...(percentages will change during time of year)

Lumiere: for Flawless Face and Cashmere: generally a mix of Light Medium Beige and Med Beige or Medium Beige 2.3 with a teeny touch of Light Medium Beige...unless it's Luminesse, then I mix Med Beige 2.3 with a tiny bit of Light Beige.

Jane Iredale: in Liquid Minerals: I'm Radiant, in pressed: Radiant is too light, in loose: Radiant is waaay too dark. *Still finding my "shades" in pressed and loose.

Mineral Essence: M2 (yellow undertone LOL) is perfect most of the year, sometimes I add a tiny bit of either M1 or M3...depending if I'm more pink or golden.

Alima: a mix of neutrals 3 & 4.

Classy: a mix of Light medium and medium in custom kaolin free liquid mineral mix.

Beautiful Girl: Light Honey mixed with Medium Neutral (seems to be almost spot on...working on percentages though)

Terra Firma: Sunlit Tierra + Tuscany

to name the most frequent ones I'd use, other than Alima...a little too much Titanium Dioxide.

I usually have to mix at least 2 foundies to get my shade. Beiges work when they are more equally balanced in undertone. Neutrals also work when they too are more balanced and not grey or brown. I can even wear some cools and warms or a mix of the two...it all depends on the way it's formulated/mixed. LOL!

WOW! Great mind thinks alike! ;) I'm also curious about the Night Time Botanical Treatment but forgot to asked about it earlier. Well, after your glowing review, I'll surely grab a full size of it! (does a jar last a long time? is it to be use night time exclusively?). PS: What're your fav bronzer, glow & blush from EGM, Theresa?
Hi C. You've definitely tried more than this list cause you have labels from things I've never seen or heard of. I can think of a few often mentioned names that you've given me stuff from that didn't make your list.

Wooo Simplicity my favorite bronzer well....that would be Perfection, and for my favorite glow that would be my love Champagne and Diamonds because it doesn't show color just a soft glow. My favorite blush now is Cherry Blossom 99! Definitely #1. But for sure that Night Treatment works!

I know but these are the main ones that I recall.
